Blogger - Blogspot Account Disk Statistics and Bandwidth

Hi there :) 

Are you a blogger who uses the Google Blogspot (blogger) account? and are you wondering about what are the specs of your account regarding the Disk usage and bandwidth? Even i was wondering about it today, so i'm sharing what i found out. 

I'm sure you're one of the bloggers who uses a lot of images in your blogs and want to know how much can you actually use in your blogspot account. Is there any limit on disk space or Bandwidth used by your blogspot account? Yes there is. 

Disk space - 

In early 2012's i got to know that the blogspot image hosting limit on your blog would be limited to 1GB. Which means you had the capacity to  upload images to fill upto 1GB of your disk space. But later in April 2012, after the introduction of Google drive and merging of Drive with all other services like Google docs and picasa Web albums etc, google has put up a new set of Legacy storage plans - 

According to the new plans, a blogspot account with a free plan can hold upto 5GB of image disk space!! Isn't that awesome!! That is like over 20,000 images of size 250KB each can be uploaded in your blogspot account for free! after which you will have to choose one of the monthly paid hosting options.

And you may already be knowing that you can post unlimited number of posts in your blogspot blog and there is no "defined limit" for the bandwidth so as to 'how many people can request you page per day'!! Man isn't this one awesome reason to create a blogger blog rather than other alternatives like wordpress or typepad. 

Cool? Ok, but what if you are willing to purchase additional storage plans for your images in blogspot?

Images and photos that are uploaded through Blogger get stored in your Picasa Web Albums, which are part of your Google Account. The number of images you can upload is therefore dependent on the amount of space you are using on picasa Web Albums. 

To find out how much space you have available in your Google Picasa account- 

Just login to your google account and go to - www.picasaweb.google.com/ 
Then proceed to "Settings" seen at the top right of the page and then you will see a page like -

As evident, click on the storage tab to see the amount of storage you're using. And right there you can see the link to purchase additional storage.

Note: The information that you get here about the storage is just related to the number of images in your picasa web albums and does not include your disk usage from any other Google services.
